Mr. Odd Reads The Witcher Prologue (An Excerpt from The Last Wish, by Andrzej Sapkowski)

I have been on the fence about playing The Witcher. I started reading the book called "The Last Wish" which introduces Geralt through a series of short stories. Now, I cannot wait to start my Let's Play.

Thanks for every time you "LIKE" a video. It really helps my channel to grow! Thanks so much!

An ODD Intermission (Channel Updates):

About the game:
The Witcher is an action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt RED and published by Atari.
The game is based on the book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher takes place in a medieval fantasy world and follows the story of Geralt, one of a few remaining "witchers" -- traveling monster hunter for hire, gifted with unnatural powers. The game's system of "moral choices" as part of the storyline was noted for its time-delayed consequences and lack of black-and-white morality.
The game utilizes BioWare's proprietary Aurora Engine. A console version using an entirely new engine and combat system, titled The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, was to be released in Fall 2009 but was suspended due to payment problems with the console developers, Widescreen Games. On September 18, 2009, CD Projekt RED officially confirmed that they began working on a sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which was released on May 17, 2011, for the PC and on April 17, 2012, for Xbox 360.

Who knows...maybe a new style of Let's Plays for books...wheels are turning.

Very cool way to introduce a let's play series. Much appreciated.

  • zac95151

I just finished your Mass Effect let's play and decided to check out some of your older-ish let's plays (namely this one) and I feel like I'm not gonna be able to stop watching like with Mass Effect.

  • DeadAtrocity

With the first word of this I already wanted to just leave. Geralt not Jeralt.

  • Ozstryker

your awesome chris thank you so much for this letsplay i dont have a gaming computer myself but wanna play this game so bad but your lets play of this game was amazing helps me out so much to get ready for witcher3

  • Deathclaw12

Wow. first ever playthrough I've seen with a prologue! very professional!

  • iskellus

I watch alot of your "let's play" videos and there's something that you have that most other walkthrough makers don't. When Witcher 3 comes out (if it comes out), will you be making a "let's play" for this one too? I hope so. I'm probably going to need your help. Thank you for all the time you put in in making all these walkthroughs and I love the fact you go in blind. It feels like we're playing the game with you at the same time. Happy gaming!

  • Isaac Wurmbrand

Not gonna lie, this intro... This intro, while not the reason I got into the Witcher in the first place, would have definitely piqued my interest. I definitely have to read these books now.

  • Lukas Albrecht

I admit, I read Last Wish as well, and I always imagined Nivellen with a deep growly voice. You make him sound lighter.

  • CorpseTree

Going to check out your witcher 1 and 2 series while doing another playthrough as well :) 2 Months to go until we can delve into this open world and experience hours and hours of new exquisite gameplay :) Nice reading there!

  • Meosychs

ARGH! they need to release a Witcher collection for current gen consoles so everyone can experience how AWESOME the witcher series truly is as a whole. Thank you Chris for yet another quality playthrough. I think i'll rewatch it just to get dem feels again =-P

  • SimderZ

I haven't played any of the witcher games but i have read all the books up to tower of the swallow many times. The books are fantastic, the audiobooks read by peter kenny are just fantastic.

  • Kyle Sprenkel

finishes watching xcom 2 playthrough then gets into the witcher franchise and finds another Christopherodd playthrough how convenient.

  • Vlad Zey

Play "Dark Souls: prepare to die".

  • Cong Chen

Hey, Chris! I just began to play The Witcher 3 and followed your walkthrough. It is very awesome walkthrough. I never read or played The Witcher series before, so after watching some videos, I got a little bit lost in this immersive witcher world, and decided to start playing from The Witcher 1. Good video walkthrough and please keep producing your high quality work! Good job and Good luck!

  • Kameron Howze

Best introduction to a let's play ever.

  • Nigel Walton

I think I might take a long look, 2017… because you are bloody awesome my man.

  • Sapphire Rose

  • SM113

Hey just carious what's a good range for your CPU GPU temps to be hanging while playing? I got a brand new Lenovo y700 and plays this game awesome! But just want to make sure I take care of it. Thanks

  • @Resident_41

  • William Chandler

Great novels, great games, I'm glad you did the series like you have, ChristiiopherOdd

  • Lax420

I love that Voice doe ~<3

  • Despaxir Dezpaxir

Does the The Last Wish book have all the short stories that make up the The Wither series in it???? Because I don't want to buy something off Amazon only to get something which I didn't want.

  • Sawyer

How do you like the book, Mr. Odd?

  • deathwatch962

Man you really need to do a Audio book reading of this. Maybe put up a donation so you atleast get something out of it. There isn't an official one as of yet.

  • Ichigo Kitsune

Love this introduction to the game, really "sets the vibe"

  • Huzzah Fortimelines

Try the Lone Wolf gamebooks. Check them out at Project Aon.

  • Zeb bruce

You should think of VoiceOver work. That was incredible!

  • NecronOverlord Gaming

Chris im so exited for this so il give u a few tips that might help u (NO SPOILERS) u will need to learn the combat sistem and potion sistem by heath cuz its a realy hard game if u dont know what u are doing. The story is one of the best i have ever heard and i want to warn u cuz no way u will skip the wither 2 if the second game try to go with the rebels(you will know when the time come's) i think that side of the story is for the "good guy" and its also much more intresting in my opinion.

  • strikewolfy

Best of luck, learn to use Quen as fast as you can, it will make sense once you get into the game

  • littledorgan

Where'd you get the idea to do a Let's Read? :P You have the most beautiful voice, Mr. Odd. Please do a series, if you enjoy it. I would love to hear more, especially from you.

  • Jo Parrish

    Green eggs and ham next

  • Rickem

The Witcher is sooo good. I started it last summer, had lots of issues with my computer, had to restart it and play the first 20 hours again and it was still worth it. Playing Witcher 2 this summer. I will def be watching :)

  • Juanjo R.M.

I dreamed with this last night. Yeah, I had a premonition of ChristopherOdd playing The Witcher. Weird.

  • apocca

Hopefully you don't get turned off it by the early, terrible chapters. It gets good, i promise <3

  • Andre Rafferty

I was hoping for Mass Effect but alright Mr. Odd, lets do this.

  • Duarte Ferreira

Playied through The Witcher 2 three times but never playied witcher 1. Im glad you will be playing it

If you narrated an audio book, I'd buy the hell out of it. Well done.

  • Akul

As some advice on the game, pick herbalism as a skill early on, read/buy and sell back as many books as possible which containt information. Also, in each chapter there are two monsters who drop a trophy, which must be returned to someone who will pay you for them. If you get all of them, you get a bonus reward.

  • Akul

Very good to see you start this, as the Witcher is one of my favourite games. I've read all the books bar the last which is halfway through.

  • Huzzah Fortimelines

Awesome dude, I hope you'll enjoy! Even though the second game, in my opinion, is better with characters and story, the atmosphere of the original witcher is certainly unique, and outstanding. :)

  • ChristopherOdd

Hey everyone, I'll be starting "The Witcher" tomorrow and I'd be super grateful if you could support the sassafras out of it :) I'm really stoked!
